Part 12: Zermatt and the Matterhorn

On our way from Interlaken to Zermatt

Zermatt and the River Vispa

Just your local Alpinehorn musicians

View of the Matterhorn from our hotel room. The Matterhorn, meaning "meadow peak," is one of the highest peaks of the Alps.

Some more pictures....

Rosti! A tradition Swiss dish... it didn't take long for this hash brown-based entree covered in cheese and a fried egg to become our favorite meal :)

Another great dish... Apfelmacaroni. (essentially baked macaroni and cheese topped with applesauce)

We decided to take a gondola up to the Schwarzsee, a lake at the foot of the Matterhorn

Halfway there!

The bar and lobby at the Hotel Bristol where we spent one night

We followed sounds of the Alpinehorn to a little village square where we found this group. We sat and listened to them play a few songs.

We happened across this street in Zermatt where buildings from the 16th-17th century were preserved.

We found a English pub where we grabbed dinner and watched the Wimbledon.

Then we stopped at this bar for some post-dinner drinks.

Good night Matterhorn!
