Part 11: Hiking through the Lauterbrunnen Valley

Today, we embarked on a 8-hour hike which started just a few steps from our hotel in Stechelberg, took us all about the Lauterbrunnen Valley and mountains, and then back to our hotel. Here are pictures from our journey!

And so it begins!!

Dan's excited to use our trail book from Mom and Dad Fox!

Onward!!

We spotted a bunch of goats ahead...

And caught up to them along the trail.

The lonely goat...
We stopped and talked to this shepherdess who was taking her 89 goats to the pasture to eat. Each one of them was named and wore a bell around its neck.

Just me and a few of the 89 goats...

Dan stops to smell the roses

We take a granola bar break here by the waterfall

Broken bridge - we have to find another way to cross.

Interesting arrangement of signs

Lake Oberhornsee...where we stopped to eat our lunch

Ahhh Switzerland! You feel so small among the mountains.

Uhhh... where did the trail go??

This isn't nerve wrecking at all!

Dan poses with this house and our trail picture, which features a picture of the same house

6.5 hours in and still smiling!!

About 40 minutes from Stechelberg, we came across this little restaurant where we stopped for some milkshakes.

We can see Stechelberg - almost there!!

Finally we make it back to our starting point

Back at Hotel Stechelberg

That evening we decided to head back to Gimmelwald for dinner.

The view from our table.

By the time we sat down to eat, the kitchen had just closed for the evening. However, they managed to rustle up some food for us. Not bad!

After that we head back down to Stechelberg and decided to walk back to our hotel from the Schilthornbahn.

What a trip of a lifetime! Makes me want to watch The Sound Of Music! I must know... did you twirl and sing like Julie Andrews in the opening scene of the movie?! I have always wanted to do that.
