Banff Vacation - Day 1

We just got back from a week in Banff, Canada and had a great time! The weather was cooler, the mountains were beautiful and we did some solid hiking around the Lake Louise area and Stanley Glacier.

Here are some pictures from the first day where we visited the historic Banff Springs Hotel (built in 1888) and took a short walk around the area to see Bow Falls behind the hotel.

We took a self-guided walking tour of the hotel to see some of the more historic areas.

Marcus comes face to face with a knight...

Bow Falls

Next we took a gondola up Sulphur Mtn. Marcus and Dan loved it...

I didn't care for the swinging...

We reached the top - 7,486 feet above elevation  - to view six mountain ranges.

We took the Sulphur Mountain Boardwalk to Sanson's Peak where we got a peak at the Sulphur Mountain Cosmic Ray Station.

It was a little chilly up there...

Heading back down...

Back on the ground, we boarded a boat cruise of Lake Minnewanka.

Throwing rocks before we board..

The evening ended up dinner at The Meatball in Banff  - cheers!!

Our drive back to Canmore and a lovely moon.

First day success.... The kids are wiped.
