Life with Alex

It's hard to believe that Alex was born six weeks today - time flies! He seems to be changing almost everyday and is doing very well as far as eating, sleeping and gaining weight. In general, Alex is a happy baby and only fusses when it is expected. During the night, he goes back to sleep quickly, and two nights this week, he slept 5-6 hours between two of his feedings, so that was nice! I'm sure it won't last long as we get closer to another growth spurt, but we can't complain about the extra sleep!

We started doing some tummy time but for the past few weeks, Alex has been showing us how strong his neck is by lifting his head to look around. He also had his first full bath last week, right after his one month appointment.

Marcus is doing a great job as big brother and loves to put blankets on Alex and be in charge of putting his pacifier in his mouth. He also likes to announce, "This is my baby brother" to anyone he meets. Marcus can't wait for Alex to get bigger so he can "give him chicken nuggets and play ball."

Here are some snapshots of the little guy (as well as other things we've been doing) since his arrival!

Week 1

Awake and alert!

Temperatures were in the 90s for most of June so our friends Jeff and Bridgette pulled out the kiddie (and adult, apparently!) pool to cool off. Marcus and Hunter loved it!

Marcus getting in some quality time with his brother.

Alex is a good baby, spending most of the days sleeping. When he's awake, he's alert and content!

Week 2

While Dan was off work, we took advantage of our close proximity to Faust Park in Chesterfield. Marcus loved playing on the slides and climbing.

Taking after his Aunt Julie, Marcus scales the rock climbing wall with ease.

Alex chose a less active activity for the morning...

"Ok, when do we go home for lunch?"

And some more sleeping later that day....

Week 3
My first week riding solo with the two boys. We ventured back to Faust Park where we checked out the Butterfly House...

Marcus hamming it up for the camera

Marcus decided this was a good spot to rest.

Follow the leader!

Later on that week, we headed to the Frisco Train Store which features a half a dozen train tables. Marcus really enjoyed playing with all the engines and got a wooden train whistle before we left.

Finally, we caught that dimple in a picture!

We spent one evening at the Missouri Botanical Gardens with Breezy, Connor and Lincoln. It was a beautiful night and Marcus loved the giant slide in the children's garden.

Breezy was kind enough to take Macus down several times!

He finally went on his own.. veeeeery slowly.

Best buds

Week 4

Looking pretty content here...

1 month old!

Week 5
Marcus loves to hold Alex for a minute or two before he says, "It's too hard, Mommy!"

Perhaps a bit sleep still, but looking extra cozy in his blanket knitted by our friend Jessica's mom.

Week 6

"Hi there!"

Look who came to visit! Andrea spent a few days with us this week and loved hanging out with Marcus and Alex.
